Hawthorn Estates was invited along to the Bury Blind Society‘s – A night at the Proms Gala Dinner on the 26th October 2019 at Bury Town Hall.

We want to thank RGP’s Mr Reid Lewis for inviting us to the event as his guests.

The Night at the proms features the Tottington Public Band, Soprano Nicola Fox and others.

What is the Bury Blind Society?

Bury Society for Blind & Partially Sighted People is a charitable organisation that provides a variety of services; its goal is to enhance the quality of life for all visually impaired people within the Metropolitan Borough of Bury.

Founded in 1922, for many years the society held several social events each year for visually impaired people.

In 1994 that the Society became established with premises, volunteers, staff, a committee and trustees.

The Society in 2005, made the transition to a company limited by guarantee; the committee then became the Board of Directors.

Services are dependant on the voluntary help that receive through various sources.

Bury Blind Society funded by legacies, voluntary donations and fundraising which are desperately needed to supplement the grants they receive.

What is the event?

The Gala Dinner is a chance for all in attendance to dress up in their best attire in support of the Bury Blind and partially sighted charity.

A blind auction has been arranged by the society to help raise funds.

The charity organised a classical orchestra for the night at the proms.
