October 2018 Hawthorn Estates Ltd has been accepted as Gas Safe Approved Contractors.
What does this mean?
To be a Gas Safe Contractor, Hawthorn Estates must follow the rules of registration which includes ensuring that only gas safe plumbers are in our employment or among our approved Sub Contractors.
- gas works are adequately supervised and kept up to date
- keep up to date with regulations and policies (see below)
- notify the register of any concerns about the unsafe actions of others
- all works done by a gas safe engineer must be done inline within a set date
What is the Gas Safe Register?
An official gas registration body appointed by the health and safety authority for the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey.
For a business to become a Gas Safe contractor they are issued with a licence to carry out gas works (similar to the DVLA Driving licences after passing the practical test). The Gas Safe Register makes checks prior to allowing those applying for/ holding the licence are appropriately qualified as gas safety competent.
By law, all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register, and the Register’s role is to act as a licensing body.
Gas Safe Register is not a membership body or a trade association for engineers.
